Abstract:
This paper aims to systematically review the literature on language assessment literacy research included in the Web of Science (WoS) core database over the past five years (2020-2024), analyze the research themes, trends, methods, major contributions, and challenges in this field, and explore future development directions. A combination of bibliometric analysis and systematic review methods was employed. A systematic search was conducted in the WoS core collection to identify relevant empirical studies, theoretical discussions, and review articles. Content analysis and thematic categorization were used to extract core research themes. The findings indicate that language assessment literacy research over the past five years exhibits diverse and interdisciplinary characteristics. Core research topics focus on teachers' language assessment literacy, assessment literacy for specific groups, the constituent elements of assessment literacy, and the role of technology in assessment literacy. Research methods are becoming more hybrid, with enhanced depth in qualitative exploration and increasingly mature development of quantitative tools. Language assessment literacy has become one of the core research topics in the field of language education. Future research should further enhance the validity and universality of assessment literacy evaluation tools, deepen discussions on the collaborative development of literacy among multiple stakeholder groups, strengthen integrated research on the role of technology in cultivating assessment literacy, expand localized practices and theoretical innovations in assessment literacy in non-English contexts, and pay attention to the ethical dimensions and social equity impacts of assessment literacy.
