Abstract:
Due to new technologies, shifting worker expectations, and changing corporate situations, the area of Human Resource Management (HRM) is developing swiftly. This study examines the future of HRM, focussing on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities, and develops a conceptual synthesis to clarify for scholars and practitioners. The study performs a thematic analysis of current literature to identify key trends, such as the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), initiatives for employee well-being, flexible work arrangements, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B), continuous learning, and data-driven human resource management (HRM). It also talks about problems that businesses have, like not being able to locate and keep competent workers, ethical issues with technology, workers who don't care about their jobs, and managing teams that work from home. Also, it examines how the workforce can be made more resilient, innovative, and productive. The study is grounded in the Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) Theory and Contingency Theory, which emphasise the necessity of aligning HR practices with organisational objectives and tailoring them to specific contexts. The findings illustrate how HRM can evolve into a strategic partner that enhances organisational flexibility, sustainability, and employee engagement. The research recommends that organisations should strategically incorporate HR technology, prioritise employee health and safety, implement flexible work arrangements, foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B), provide continuous learning and development programs, enhance talent management and succession planning, and utilise workforce analytics ethically.
