Abstract:
The integration of robots into daily life is steadily increasing to meet various human needs. With the rise of smart home technologies, household automation has enhanced convenience and reduced the time spent on routine tasks. Robotic vacuum cleaners have eased the burden of cleaning; however, their noise and bulkiness often limit regular usage. This study introduces the design and development of an AI-powered robotic cleaner that aims to outperform manual cleaning methods in efficiency, ease the workload for users, conserve water amid growing scarcity, and enhance overall usability. The robot combines vacuuming and floor-mopping capabilities and is controlled by an Arduino Mega microcontroller. Key features include a retractable dustbin with a cooling fan, dual side sweepers powered by 3V DC motors, and a mobility system comprising two rear motorized wheels and a front caster for directional control. Navigation and obstacle avoidance are managed by four ultrasonic sensors positioned at 90° intervals. Powered by three 28.8V rechargeable batteries and charged via an integrated AC-DC adapter, the robot maintains a compact design (12 cm wide, 9 cm high) and lightweight build (approximately 1.5 kg), allowing for agile movement. Components such as a cardboard-based dustbin, lightweight battery pack, and a small blower contribute to its efficient design, with a total current consumption of about 1102 mA. Once fully charged, its 2200 mAh battery enables over two hours of continuous operation, making it well-suited for smart home cleaning tasks.
