Abstract:
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a widespread hematological disorder that continues to represent a major global public health challenge. It arises from impaired iron intake, defective absorption, increased physiological requirements, or chronic blood loss, and is characterized by microcytosis, hypochromia, and varying degrees of tissue hypoxia. IDA affects nearly every population group, with women of reproductive age, children, and individuals in low-income countries being most vulnerable. The objective of this paper is to analyze modern approaches to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of IDA, with special attention to new laboratory technologies, therapeutic regimens, and public health strategies.
