Abstract:
Against the backdrop of deepening globalization and cross-cultural communication, second language learning motivation, as a key non-intellectual factor influencing the effectiveness of second language acquisition, has attracted significant attention regarding its theoretical evolution and practical value. This study systematically sorts out the core issues and major achievements in the research on second language learning motivation, and traces the trajectory of its theoretical development. This study elaborates on the connotation of second language learning motivation, identifies its core elements as goal orientation, effort level, and emotional arousal, and emphasizes its dynamic and multi-dimensional characteristics. Meanwhile, it analyzes the key factors affecting the formation and evolution of motivation from three dimensions: individual psychology, macro-level socioculture, and micro-level educational and teaching environments. On this basis, this study looks forward to future research trends, including the deepening of interdisciplinary integration, the diversification of research methods and technological innovation (such as the application of big data and artificial intelligence), the focus on special groups and diverse learning environments, and the expansion of cross-cultural research. This study argues that second language learning motivation is an organic construct formed by the dynamic interaction of multi-dimensional factors. Its research not only provides theoretical support for the design of motivation intervention strategies in language teaching practice, but also strives to empower learners to achieve the internal development of multilingual literacy, ultimately serving the improvement of cross-cultural communication competence.
