Abstract:
Sincipital meningo-encephalocele is a rare congenital neural tube defect in our milieu. It raises diagnostic and therapeutic concerns. We report the case of Mrs. K.Z., 39 years old, who was referred to us after the discovery of an anterior cephalic mass on morphology ultrasound during a 22-week pregnancy. She had delivered a full-term vaginal male newborn with a soft, expansive, transilluminable frontonasal mass, without any other associated malformations. The diagnosis of meningoencephalocele was confirmed by cerebral computed tomography, which also revealed quadriventricular hydrocephalus associated with midline abnormalities. Neurosurgical treatment was performed in a single stage; the postoperative course was uneventful.
