Abstract:
The research examined how youth entrepreneurship could help decrease urban unemployment rates in Uganda. The study investigated how entrepreneurial programs help create jobs for urban youth who face ongoing employment difficulties. Research direction emerged from understanding youth enterprises as essential elements in national progress and recognizing self-reliance and innovative tendencies gaining importance among urban youth populations. The study implemented a mixed-methods research design that utilized quantitative data from 400 distributed questionnaires with a 95% response rate and qualitative data from key informant interviews totaling 10 participants. The analysis of data through descriptive statistics and logistic regression explored how youth entrepreneurship affects employment outcomes. Researchers examined how youth entrepreneurship programs enhance business skills, financial independence along with the job creation potential of businesses led by young people. The research demonstrated that youth entrepreneurship helps decrease urban unemployment through alternative livelihoods while promoting self-employment and generating new jobs. Entrepreneurship training and support systems were recognized by respondents as vital factors for increasing their business activity involvement. The analysis revealed a positive correlation between entrepreneurial participation and better employment outcomes for young people. The research findings show that youth entrepreneurship presents an effective solution to urban unemployment in Uganda provided there are supportive policies and programs for capacity-building along with access to necessary finance. The report suggests an expansion of youth entrepreneurship programs by governments and development partners in combination with improved vocational training and mentorship opportunities as well as strengthened institutional support for young entrepreneurs and promotion of inclusive financing models.
