Abstract:
This study examines the influence of digital supply system dimensions specifically artificial intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics on service delivery efficiency in supermarkets in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Service delivery efficiency is assessed through response speed and cost-effectiveness, two critical metrics for operational performance in highly competitive retail environments. The study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. Data were collected from 92 managers and operational staff across major supermarkets using a structured questionnaire, and multiple regression analysis was used to test four hypotheses exploring the relationships between AI, predictive analytics, and service delivery efficiency. Findings indicate that both AI and predictive analytics significantly improve response speed (Rē = 0.45) and cost-effectiveness (Rē = 0.38), with AI showing a slightly stronger impact. All hypotheses were supported, confirming that these digital technologies enhance operational timeliness and optimize resource utilization. The results revealed that strategic value of AI and predictive analytics in addressing local retail challenges and provide practical recommendations for supermarket managers, including investment in digital tools, staff training, and policy support for digital infrastructure.
