Abstract:
This research aims to explore the complex relationship between language and identity within the context of Three-Language Formula. By employing qualitative study methodology, the study examines Three-Language Formula, assessing its success and challenges in addressing linguistic diversity, particularly in promoting the maintenance of regional languages and fostering social cohesion among diverse linguistic communities. Language serves as a marker of personal and collective identity, particularly in multi-linguistic and multicultural societies like India. By analyzing the role of language in forming and developing individual's identities, the paper examines the implementation, challenges, and educational effectiveness of the three-language formula amid political sensitivities, highlighting the tension between promoting Hindi as a national link language and preserving regional languages. Ultimately, the research provides practical recommendations for policymakers, emphasizing the need for a flexible framework that promotes linguistic diversity while facilitating communication and integration among different language communities.
