Abstract:
Secure information exchange in hospitals is essential for ensuring patient safety, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting efficient clinical workflows. With the increasing adoption of electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, and interconnected medical devices, healthcare institutions face growing risks related to data breaches, unauthorized access, and cyberattacks. This paper explores the critical components of secure information exchange within hospital environments, including encryption techniques, access control mechanisms, authentication protocols, network security frameworks, and compliance with healthcare regulations. It also examines challenges such as interoperability between systems, insider threats, legacy infrastructure, and human factors. Furthermore, the study highlights emerging technologies such as blockchain, secure cloud computing, and artificial intelligence-based threat detection as potential solutions to strengthen data protection. By implementing robust security strategies and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness, hospitals can ensure secure, reliable, and compliant information exchange while enhancing overall healthcare delivery.
