Abstract:
This study aims to examine the philosophical values contained in the Kusumadewa text, analyze the practice of sesana kepinanditaan in Mimika Regency, Central Papua, and identify its implications for the religious life of Hindu communities. This research employs a qualitative approach using textual analysis and field studies through observation and interviews. The findings reveal that the Kusumadewa text embodies profound philosophical teachings, including the concept of the human body as a microcosm (bhuana alit), the importance of purity (?uddhi), spiritual union with ?iwa, the symbolism of sacred syllables, and ritual cosmology. The practice of priestly discipline in Mimika generally still refers to these teachings, although it has undergone adaptation in accordance with local social and cultural conditions. The implications of proper priestly practice are multidimensional, encompassing spiritual, theological, social, cultural, educational, and ecological aspects. This practice not only strengthens the spiritual quality of pinandita and the community but also plays a role in maintaining social harmony, preserving traditions, enhancing religious literacy, and fostering environmental awareness. Thus, the Kusumadewa text holds strong relevance in shaping contextual and meaningful priestly practices in diaspora regions such as Mimika.
