Abstract:
This study examined the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital transformation processes across regional organizations, with particular emphasis on the standards governing AI deployment, the skills required for effective adoption, and the best practices that distinguish high-performing organizations from low-performing ones. A cross-sectional survey design was employed, targeting 320 professionals drawn from public institutions, private enterprises, academic bodies, and non-governmental organizations across the region. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire and analysed using SPSS Version 26. Univariate analysis revealed that 61.9% of organizations had formally adopted AI in at least one operational domain, yet only 38.4% reported adherence to internationally recognised AI standards. Bivariate analyses using chi-square tests established statistically significant associations between AI standards compliance and organizational performance (?² = 47.32, p < 0.001), as well as between digital skills levels and AI adoption (?² = 38.71, p < 0.001). Binary logistic regression, adjusting for organisation type, sector, and workforce size, identified digital skills capacity (OR = 3.84, 95% CI: 2.47-5.97), AI standards compliance (OR = 2.91, 95% CI: 1.83-4.63), and dedicated AI governance frameworks (OR = 2.15, 95% CI: 1.29-3.59) as independent predictors of successful AI-driven digital transformation. The findings underscored a critical regional skills gap, uneven access to AI infrastructure, and insufficient adoption of globally recognised AI standards. The study concluded that sustainable AI-enabled digital transformation required a concerted effort to build human capital, harmonise AI governance standards, and institutionalise evidence-based best practices. Targeted capacity-building programmes, regional AI policy harmonisation, and multi-stakeholder engagement frameworks were recommended as priority interventions.
