Abstract:
Data science has emerged as a fundamental discipline driving modern technological innovation. It plays a central role in enabling advancements across domains such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, edge computing, and blockchain systems. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of data science, including its origins, growth, methodologies, required skill sets, and its influence on other technological domains. Historically, data-related analysis was primarily performed by statisticians who focused on interpreting structured datasets for organizational decision-making. With the evolution of computing power, cloud infrastructure, and advanced analytical tools, the integration of statistical methods with computer science gave rise to the field now known as data science. Unlike traditional analysis, data science not only interprets historical data but also leverages machine learning techniques to predict future outcomes. As an interdisciplinary domain combining mathematics, statistics, and computing, data science provides scalable solutions to complex real-world problems. It enables the identification of hidden patterns, trends, and actionable insights from large datasets. This paper aims to present a simplified and structured understanding of data science concepts, techniques, and widely used open-source tools.
