Abstract:
Foreign language teachers serve as crucial bridges connecting diverse languages and cultures while simultaneously navigating multiple occupational stressors and role challenges. Their psychological resilience, functioning as a dynamically protective resource, holds significant implications for individual professional development, teaching efficacy, and the enhancement of educational quality. This study comprehensively reviews extant research on the psychological resilience of foreign language teachers, both domestically and internationally, systematically examining core conceptualizations, theoretical frameworks, influential factors, cultivation mechanisms, and the current research landscape. It was found that current research exhibits several limitations, including insufficient localization of theoretical constructs, ambiguity in the multi-level interactive mechanisms underlying teacher resilience, inadequate cross-cultural applicability in empirical studies, and lagging development of dynamic assessment instruments. Future research should prioritize the development of localized theoretical frameworks for foreign language teacher resilience, deepen explorations of resilience mechanisms based on an ecological systems perspective, enhance the practical application effectiveness of intervention studies, and advance comparative cross-cultural research alongside interdisciplinary integration. These efforts aim to provide theoretical support and practical implementation pathways for cultivating a high-quality foreign language teaching workforce and promoting sustainable educational development.
