Abstract:
Using of geomatic technique (GIS), is very important, for create and produce digital maps or paper map update. These maps are important to use for city development, infrastructure, residential, and government buildings, as maps, especially digital ones, are the major representation of these buildings. The digital development has led to significant in updating of map and production, where the field experiencing perfect growth by mean of the fast development of various techniques and software. This research included the method of updating old paper map and converting it into digital map because there is no updating map for the study area in this time. The maps are processed and updated by using best programs such as remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study area, representing a several quarters in the city of Hilla, were selected as a sample for this update process. The old sector maps were stored in AutoCAD format were available. These maps were processed by inserting them into GIS software and achieved the request steps to create the new digital maps. The results are appearing the accuracy digital map that production and its likely for future updates, making it an official reference for relevant authorities.
