Abstract:
: Background:Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global public health concern, particularly in developing countries. The association of TB with pregnancy poses high maternal and perinatal risks. Neuromeningeal tuberculosis, especially tuberculous meningoencephalitis, is an exceptionally rare and severe form of extrapulmonary TB, with nonspecific clinical and radiological features that often delay diagnosis. Case Presentation:We report the case of a 30-year-old primigravida at 32 weeks of gestation with no notable past medical history, admitted for febrile altered consciousness. Clinical evaluation suggested meningoencephalitis. Imaging revealed triventricular hydrocephalus, necessitating external ventricular drainage. Antituberculous therapy was initiated promptly. The maternal course was complicated by refractory septic shock requiring maximal vasoactive support and ultimately cardiopulmonary arrest in the intensive care unit. The newborn presented with hydrocephalus and a left periventricular hemorrhage (Grade I), was admitted to the neonatal unit, and was later discharged in stable condition.Discussion:
