Abstract:
This study investigated the role of innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship in repositioning technology education in Nigeria for enhanced skills training and national development. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, targeting academic staff, technology educators, and final-year students in Federal Colleges of Education (Technical), Polytechnics, and Universities across Nigeria's South/South geopolitical zone. A sample of 2000 respondents was selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire validated by experts in technology education and measurement and evaluation, with reliability established through Cronbach Alpha .86. Mean and standard deviation answered research questions, while Pearson Product Moment Correlation and t-test tested hypotheses at a .05 significance level. Findings revealed that innovation in teaching methodologies, AI integration, and entrepreneurship education significantly contribute to curriculum modernization, practical skills development, self-reliance, and graduate employability. Major challenges identified included inadequate infrastructure, limited digital literacy, poor funding, and weak policy implementation. The study concluded that integrating innovation, AI, and entrepreneurship into technology education is essential for repositioning Nigeria's education system to meet global industrial demands. It recommended curriculum reform, digital infrastructure investment, policy support, and enhanced industry partnerships.
