Abstract:
Although microfinance is widely recognized for improving financial access, its long-term success in fostering sustainable women's empowerment heavily relies on structured educational processes and collaborative learning within the community. This study aims to analyze how community-based non-formal education initiatives integrated into microfinance groups can drive women's economic empowerment and inclusivity. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with program managers, supervisors, and female participants, complemented by field observations and documentation reviews. The collected data were rigorously analyzed using the explanation-building technique. The results indicate that the microfinance groups function not only as venues for financial transactions but have transformed into dynamic non-formal learning spaces. The group education initiatives significantly enhance women's financial literacy, collective social capital, entrepreneurial capacity, and decision-making agency in both domestic and public spheres. This study concludes that integrating community education with microfinance structures is essential for achieving deep economic inclusion. Consequently, social science education frameworks must increasingly recognize community-based groups as vital vehicles for lifelong learning and socio-economic transformation.
