Abstract:
This study investigated the relationship between distribution value chain and end-user satisfaction of paint manufacturing firms in Port Harcourt. A cross sectional survey research design; explanatory or hypotheses testing research design was used for the study to generate data and explain relationships among the variables investigated. The population of the study was the nine paint manufacturing firms in Port Harcourt. This population was fully sampled for the study. Questionnaire was the instrument used for the study, 45 copies were distributed to top and middle level management staff. 35 copies of the questionnaire were finally used for the study. The study used univariate descriptive statistics and bivariate inferential statistics for the analysis of data. The univariate descriptive statistics used include the mean, standard deviation, percentages, frequencies etc while the bivariate inferential statistics include the Pearson Product Moment Correlation, these tools were aided with the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 25.0. The finding of the study is that distribution value chain of paint manufacturing firms has significant relationship with end-user satisfaction of such firms in Port Harcourt metropolis. Thus, distribution value chain dimensions; product value, service value, place value and time value, all have positive and significant relationships with the end-user satisfaction measures; repeat purchase and word of mouth advocacy respectively. We therefore conclude that distribution value chain significantly enhance end user satisfaction in the context of paint manufacturing firms in Port Harcourt metropolis. The study therefore recommends that the management of the paint manufacturing firms should optimally allocate resources; man, machines, materials, methods and information to implement or execute the distribution value chain. The company should synergize the product value, services value, place value and time value to bring about enhanced end-user satisfaction of paint manufacturing firms in Port Harcourt.
