Abstract:
Aim - to analyse systematically the sources of anthropogenic air pollution in hospital premises, its physico-chemical and microbiological nature and the measures for its prevention. Methods - analysis of hygienic normative documents on air quality, WHO recommendations and the standard hygiene literature, together with a description of the methods for determining carbon-dioxide, microbial and chemical pollution. Results - the principal sources and indicators of air pollution, the role of carbon dioxide as an integral indicator, and microbial pollution with its routes of transmission are presented. Conclusion - air exchange (ventilation) is the principal preventive measure for keeping hospital air clean.
