Abstract:
has become a key strategy for promoting meaningful, reflective, and student-centered learning within Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum. However, its application in Hindu Religious Education has received limited scholarly attention. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Deep Learning Approach in Hindu Religious Education and identify strategies that support meaningful learning. A qualitative descriptive research design was employed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the implementation process. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving Hindu Religious Education teachers, students, and school principals from public senior high schools in Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia. The findings indicate that effective implementation is supported by three interrelated strategies: continuous teacher professional development, the sharing of best teaching practices through collaborative learning communities, and the application of a Deep Learning-based Lesson Study model. These strategies promote reflective teaching, contextual learning, active student engagement, and the integration of Hindu values into authentic learning experiences. The study concludes that the Deep Learning Approach enhances the quality of Hindu Religious Education by fostering meaningful learning, critical thinking, reflective understanding, and character development in line with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum. The findings offer practical guidance for educators and policymakers in improving religious education through innovative pedagogical practices.
