Abstract:
This study examined innovative work behaviour strategies and improved productivity through artificial intelligence adoption in selected commercial banks in Port Harcourt. The study focused on idea generation, idea promotion and idea implementation as dimensions of innovative work behaviour strategies, while improved productivity was measured through operational service efficiency, employee task output and customer service responsiveness. Artificial intelligence adoption was examined through infrastructure readiness, literacy readiness and analytics capability. A quantitative correlational survey design was adopted. The population comprised 250 employees of Access Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and First Bank of Nigeria Limited in Port Harcourt, while a sample of 154 respondents was selected using the Taro Yamane formula. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation and regression-based moderation analysis. Findings showed that innovative work behaviour strategies had a positive relationship with improved productivity, while artificial intelligence adoption strengthened this relationship. The study recommends stronger AI training, infrastructure and analytics-driven work systems.
