Abstract:
The study assessed the relationship between Community Driven Approaches to Development and People's welfare in Butemba sub county, Kyankwanzi District of Uganda establishing the relationship between Participatory Development Approach and people's welfare, and the relationship between Problem-Solving Approach on people's welfare in Butemba S/C, Kyankwanzi District; and lastly the relationship between Welfare Approach on people's welfare in Butemba S/C, Kyankwanzi District. The study employed Cross-sectional, Descriptive, and Case study Designs. A sample size of 124 was selected using Slovin's Formula. A total of 109 out of the 124 respondents targeted participated in the study, where the majority were male (56.9%), majority (33.0%) were aged 30-39 years. The findings indicate that Participatory Development Approach (PDA) showed a weak, statistically insignificant correlation (0.128). However, regression analysis showed PDA accounted for only 9.4% of welfare variation (Rē = 0.094, p > 0.05), indicating a weak and statistically insignificant relationship with people's welfare in Butemba Sub-County. The study found a moderate positive correlation (? = 0.329, p = 0.000) and a weak but statistically significant relationship (R = 0.296, Rē = 0.088, p = 0.002) between the Problem-Solving Approach (PSA) and people's welfare. The study recommends establishing targeted training, income-generating programs, and community-led monitoring to strengthen participatory development. Additionally, structured feedback systems, tailored support for marginalized groups, and robust monitoring for welfare initiatives are advised to ensure inclusivity, empowerment, and sustained impact across the community.
