Abstract:
This paper evaluated the impact of Military leadership tactics and soldiers' defensive role in the Northeast Nigeria in observing its core objectives as the cradle of national freedom. The study focused on these specific objectives as to: ascertain the extent to which leadership affects soldiers' defensive role in theatre axis; investigate the extent to which tactical administration affects soldiers' performance in the Northeast; and find out soldiers' perception of leadership tactical administration and winning fire fights. This paper applied descriptive (qualitative) method of research with data basically from the secondary sources. Findings revealed that leadership has great impact on soldiers' performance, which can lead to winning or loosing fire-fight. The study further revealed that tactical administration is the basis for winning fire-fight, without which no troop can conquer, while soldiers' perception of leadership tactics capability can stimulate morale to perform and can also lower soldiers' morale to loose fire-fight. This paper adopted acceptance theory as the key theory, based on the factors that comprises both leadership skills and military values to enforce, persuade and influence high performance required to make the nation called Nigeria habitable, where developmental activities can take place. It was supported with two other theories: integrated theory and contingency theory. It is recommended that acquisition of military skills, values and periodic training should be criteria for command post in order to avert great loss of experienced soldiers, logistics, and economics implication in replacing weapons. There should be a graveyard punishment to anyone with leadership post found engaging in corrupt practices and equally compensate any commander who is transparent and accountable to all that were allotted for a task.
