Abstract:
Breast carcinoma is the most common cancer in the world among women and it is an important cause of death. For decades, breast carcinoma research and diagnostics have largely relay on traditional histological methods, such as immunohistochemical staining of tissue samples. This study was used immunohistochemistry implemented withManual Tissue Microarray (MTMA) technology which is a relatively novel innovation aiming to considerably increase amount of sample specimens. Researcher can produce by taking small punches from a series of paraffin-embedded (donor) tissue blocks (from area of interest) and transferring these tissue cores into appositionally encoded array in a recipient paraffin block .The study is a retrospective cross sectional laboratory study, was carried out to evaluate the expression of E-cad receptor as prognostic marker in invasive ductal breast carcinoma samples, using manual tissue microarray technology .The study was conducted in the period from June to December 2018, Alrahma Center-Khartoum- Sudan 2018 onthirty specimens. The data analyzed by SPSS version twenty. The results were positive in 96.6% (n=29/30) of examined tissues for E-cadherin antigen while negative results in 3.4% (n=1/30). There was strong significance between score and grade p.v. (0.01).The study showed E-cadherin receptor has good prognostic and predictive value in breast cancer management. The advantages of tissue microarray technology are, tissue from multiple patients or blocks can be examined on the same slide, and only a very small amount of reagent is required to stain or label an entire array, also several tissue cores may be taken without consuming the tissue block; allowing the donor block to return to its archive for any additional studies, so it's good to use with several specimens. The study is recommend with using E-cadherin marker for follow up of breast cancer patients and in the planning of treatment because some breast cancers patients that are E-cadherin positive can become negative over time, also it recommend to increase the sample size in the future research to obtain more information
