Abstract:
This study explored how AI-driven innovations affect learning outcomes and how digital transformation strengthens institutional resilience in higher education. The research was conducted in South-West Nigeria. A descriptive survey method was used, with multi-stage sampling involving 368 participants, including academic staff, ICT personnel, and university administrators from selected higher education institutions. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. A 24-item questionnaire was distributed with help from five research assistants. A 5-point rating scale was employed. The instruments were validated for face and content by three experts. Internal consistency was tested using Cronbach's Alpha, and reliability was assessed using Kuder-Richardson, resulting in a coefficient of 0.80. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire and analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a 0.05 significance level. The results showed that AI-driven innovations positively influence learning outcomes (Grand Mean = 3.88, SD = 0.89), especially through AI-assisted feedback, personalized learning, collaborative learning, and improved instructional delivery. Similarly, digital transformation was found to enhance institutional resilience (Grand Mean = 3.67, SD = 0.67) by increasing operational efficiency, service delivery, institutional sustainability, and continuity during disruptions. The ANOVA results indicated no significant differences in responses among academic staff, ICT personnel, and university administrators regarding AI influence (F = 0.016, p = 0.098) and digital transformation's effect on resilience (F = 0.036, p = 0.104), showing a broad consensus. The study concludes that AI-driven innovations and digital transformation are key drivers of educational quality and institutional resilience in higher education. It recommends continued investment in AI-enabled learning systems, strong digital infrastructure, staff training, and supportive institutional policies to build resilient, future-ready universities.
