As the global energy landscape undergoes a transformative shift towards sustainability, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry plays a pivotal role in meeting the rising demand for cleaner energy sources. The urgency to address climate change necessitates a thorough understanding of the environmental impact associated with LNG production, transportation, and regasification processes. The paper begins with an overview of the LNG industry and its significance in the context of the energy transition. The primary objective is to examine existing methodologies, such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), employed for carbon footprint assessment, along with an exploration of challenges and limitations inherent in these approaches.
