Abstract:
: This paper investigated poor universities site mapping and their consequences; A case study of University Administrators in Nigeria. Skyline University was chosen to represent other universities in Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was used for this study. One research question guided this study. Population of this study is 8,00 which comprised 350 males and 450 female students of Skyline University. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 40 males in two department from faculty of social sciences of Skyline university. On the other hand, 45 female students were selected in two departments from faculty of management sciences of Skyline University, Kano State. This gave a sample size of 85 students. Instrument used for data collection was a researcher developed questionnaire "titled, poor universities site mapping and their consequences: a case study of Universities Administrators in Nigeria" was used, with four rating scale of strongly agree, agree, dis agree and strongly disagree. The instrument was validated by two specialists from Imo State University Owerri. Cronbach alpha statistics was used to determine the reliability coefficient of this study at 0.78 and 0.97, which shows that the instrument was reliable for use in this study. A total of 85 questionnaires were administered and a total of 85 questionnaires were returned non got missing. Mean scores were used to analyze the data. The finding from this study reveals varied incidences of kidnapping, maiming, killing and rape in some universities in Nigeria. It was recommended in this study that government should provide adequate security in public universities in Nigeria. This would forestall incidences of insecurity in Nigerian universities.. It was also recommended that effective universities siting and mapping should be carried out in subsequent siting of universities in Nigeria. This would reduce man- made and naturally occurring insecurity in Nigerian universities
