Abstract:
Grading programming assignments can be a complex process, often subject to biases in interpretation and inconsistent criteria. Designing a clear, well-structured rubric offers a solution by standardizing assessment benchmarks and enhancing grading objectivity. This article examines the principles behind rubric creation for programming tasks, drawing upon research in computer science education, instructional design, and assessment theory. It explores the balance between evaluating code correctness, efficiency, style, documentation, and higher-order thinking skills such as algorithmic design and creativity.
